Abdul R. Effendi, M.D., F.A.S.N., F.A.C.P
Dr. Abdul Effendi is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He graduated with honors from the University of Aleppo, Faculty of Medicine in 1989. He received his training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit, MI. Dr. Effendi has been a practicing physician in the tri county area for over 20 years.
Dr. Effendi is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (F.A.S.N.) and American College of Physicians (F.A.C.P.) as well as a member of the International Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, Renal Physician Association, American Medical Association, European Renal Association and the Detroit Medical Academy. He is currently the Medical Director of Macomb Regional Dialysis Center with Greenfield Health System and previously served as Chief of Internal Medicine at St. John Macomb Hospital. Dr. Effendi is on faculty as Assistant Professor at both Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, and Michigan State University.
His love for Nephrology started with a personal experience. Having a mother on dialysis helped to shape his passion for care of kidney disease and his need to help others.
Dr. Effendi is a loving husband and father of three. He loves to grill and spend time with family. On his time off he enjoys cheering on his favorite Detroit sport’s teams.
Marrouf Azar, M.D.
Dr. Marrouf Azar graduated from University of Damascus, Faculty of Medicine in Syria in 2006. He finished combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics training at Hurley Medical Center, Michigan State University in 2012 before he joined Nephrology fellowship at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Azar is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Adult Nephrology. He is an Associate Professor at Oakland University School Of Medicine.
Dr. Azar found his passion for Nephology during his rotation in residency. He loved the challenge that it gave him and the science behind it. He loves how Nephrology also brings a great spectrum of practice from primary care all the way to intensive care.
During his days off, Dr. Azar loves to play and watch soccer with his teammates. He enjoys a challenging game of chess and spending time with his family.
Neetu Sharma, M.D.
Dr. Neetu Sharma is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. She graduated from Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Science and Research in 2004 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S). She completed her Internal Medicine Residency program at Wayne State University followed by her Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Sharma joined Kidney Consultants of Michigan in August, 2016.
Dr. Sharma is a member of American Society of Nephrology and American Society of Hypertension. She is an Associate Professor at Michigan State University in Department of Medicine as well as Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and was involved in teaching medical students and residents at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI. Dr. Sharma had published a paper in American Journal of Therapeutics and has had many presentations at local and national levels in the field of Nephrology and Medicine.
When not at work, Dr. Sharma can be found playing with her two young children and enjoying the outdoors with her family.
